I woke up again this morning to crowing. This time a little more of it than the last two mornings. I didn’t think to use my digital camera to make a video until the crowing stopped. BUT, then she started again about 30 minutes later.
So here is the video of Pearl crowing. She crows twice in the video:
I talked to our house sitter last night who said they forgot to check for eggs while we were gone all week, which means she stopped laying about a week and half ago. I thought it was because of the heat.
If this continues I might take her to the vet. It’s just really odd. Have you ever heard a hen make this noise before?

Maybe she needs hormone replacement therapy? Oh my gosh, I’ll be curious to see how this plays out. Keep us posted!

Hmm, hate to say it but I’ve heard of instances where the top hen decides to pretend she’s a rooster. Could be the result of taking out your previous two after they started to crow. Does she do it at all times of day?

Right now she appears to only be doing it in the morning. But when she crows in the morning, it’s anywhere from 5-10 times. The other morning she had “round two” of crowing about an hour after the first round.
